London Drug Policy Forum
The London Drug Policy Forum (LDPF) assists, supports and advises
policy makers on drug issues affecting the capital to promote good
practice on education and prevention, community safety and
improving services for drug users.
The LDPF has been making an important contribution to policy
development associated with drug use since 1991. Over this period
it has also developed a number of resources to help support
local delivery, especially within London. In recent years the
profile of the LDPF has increased significantly.
The Forum works with a wide range of partners including central
and regional government, local authority bodies, voluntary sector
agencies, community groups as well as the private sector and
business groups. The Forum also acts as host for overseas visitors
who wish to learn more about UK drug policy. For example we have
hosted the Anti Narcotics Minister from Afghanistan (at the request
of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office) as well as representatives
from the USA and Europe.

conferences, please use the links on the left.
New LDPF Chairman
The LDPF is proud to announce the election of its new Chairman Mr

Hugh Morris joined Arthur Andersen & Co. Management Consultants
(which subsequently became Accenture) in 1980 and became a partner
in 1991. He was a Global Managing Partner from 1997 – 2000. He left
Accenture in 2001 and worked for QA plc as Operations Director
until August 2003 when he joined Xchanging plc. Currently he is an
Executive Director of the business. He was elected to the Court of
Common Council for the City of London in December 2008. His
voluntary activities include vice-chairman of Cranstoun Drugs
Services and chairman of Build Africa, a development charity. He
was elected chairman of the London Drug Policy Forum in April 2009
" He is keen to continue the valuable work being carried out across
London, and beyond, that the LDPF already does.
Making it local
The London Drug Policy Forum working with Sara McGrail and
supported by the Home Office undertook a project to look at the
current and future roles of local partnerships - and how well
placed they are to maximise local resources and to respond to the
outcomes prioritised in Drugs: protecting families and
communities, The national drug strategy. This report, entitled
"Making it Local", explores the robustness of local partnerships;
to what extent they are able to deliver the new national drug
strategy and what Government needs to do to help partnerships work
better. The report also makes a number of recommendations for both
national and local agencies to consider.
